Ingredients:
- 1 pound alligator meat (cut into thin strips)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to make the marinade.
- Add the alligator strips to the marinade, making sure that each strip is fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the oven to 175°F (80°C) or the lowest setting.
- Remove the alligator strips from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between each strip.
- Bake the alligator strips in the oven for 4-6 hours, or until they are dry and chewy. Check on them periodically and rotate the baking sheet if needed.
- Let the alligator jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.
Note: Alligator meat can be tough, so you may want to use a meat tenderizer or marinate it for longer to help soften it. You can also use a food dehydrator instead of an oven if you have one.
